Charmera Custom Lens Mount

Adaptor mounts and lenses have been used on other cameras however the Kodak Charmera is far smaller than other cameras and has no standard mounting threads. Smartphone adaptor lenses are widely available and affordable. I utilized an interchangeable phone lens kit from Daiso for my prototype. The diameter of the inner mount matched the Charmera lens diameter. The mount would have to be disassembled, modified, and attached to a custom made part to work with the Charmera.

After measuring the lens set and Charmera, I modeled the camera in Fusion360 to make future fit checks of my part easier. To preserve additional functionality while adding new features, I had to account for all aspects existing features. The design features of my custom part include:

• Flexible clip mounted design. Accomplished by designing flexible areas of the part.

• Clearance to access all buttons, microphone, and USB port.

• Magnetic mount for hands free video mode

My custom lens mount for the Charmera allows it to be used with fisheye and macro lenses while retaining all the original features and aesthetic. This simple project allowed me to get even more use out of the fun little camera.
